Alcohol was a factor in a three-vehicle crash in which a motorcyclist from Fortville died, police said.
Lloyd Gillespie, 70, of Fortville, was killed when the Suzuki motorcycle he was riding was hit head-on by a car in the southbound lane of Ind. 67 south of Pendleton Heights High School. The accident occurred late Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday, 19-year-old Darius McGhee, Pendleton, was arrested by Indiana State Police on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing a fatality, a Level 5 felony; operating while intoxicated with a controlled substance, a Class C misdemeanor; and operating without a license, a Class A misdemeanor. His arrest also included an Anderson City Court misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.
